Various Artists - [2011] Halcyon Dawn [FLAC w/LOG + CUE] [MP3]

Various Artists - [2011] Halcyon Dawn

Halcyon Dawn is the first in the Halcyon Recordings compilation series. It features four songs by four bands which combine the sounds of black metal, post-rock and shoegaze. Although it was entirely self-funded and self-produced, the songs lack neither in quality of composition nor that of production. Influenced by black metal artists such as Alcest, Lantlos, Drudkh, Heretoir and Agalloch, the artists of Halcyon Dawn hope to further adapt and expand the post-black metal genre into a new, dynamic, and enlightening sound.

Heretoir - [2011] Heretoir [FLAC and MP3]

Heretoir - [2011] Heretoir

This is the full-length debut of the German post-black metal band Heretoir. Often compared to Amesoeurs and Lantlôs, Heretoir combines post-punk, post-rock, shoegaze, and black metal influences to express "the dreariness of everyday life and its devastating realism: isolation, depression, nostalgia and melancholy," but with an underlying sense of hope.

Alcest - [2007] Souvenirs d'un autre monde [MP3 + FLAC/LOG/CUE]

Alcest - [2007] Souvenirs d'un autre monde

Souvenirs d'un autre monde (Memories of Another World) is the first full-length album by Alcest, released in August 2007. The album differs greatly from Alcest's earlier work, as its sound is similar to post-rock and shoegaze with very little black metal incorporated at all. Audrey Sylvain of Amesoeurs, another band featuring Neige, provides guest vocals on "Sur l'autre rive je t'attendrai." All other vocals and music were written and recorded entirely by Neige.

Abigail Williams - [2008] In the Shadow of a Thousand Suns [FLAC/LOG/CUE + MP3 V0]

Abigail Williams - [2008] In the Shadow of a Thousand Suns

"Abigail Williams is an American black metal band, originally from Phoenix, Arizona, but now based in Los Angeles. Formed in 2004, the group would suffer constant changes to their line-up. Shortly after an eight-week tour in support of In the Shadow of a Thousand Suns, vocalist Ken Sorceron would become the only original member remaining."

"The band was formed in 2005 by guitarist Ken Bergeron, who later [changed his name to "Sourceron Bergeron" and] became the vocalist."

"[The band's] debut release was the Legend EP in 2006, which mixed metalcore influences with symphonic black metal, and was described by Allmusic as "a perfect example of an American recording with a very Nordic-influenced sound". According to vocalist/guitarist Ken Sorceron, the EP was only released so that the band would have something to promote, explaining "a lot of the songs are, like, older songs, and they felt a bit old."...After touring with Dark Funeral and Enslaved, the band split up in early 2007, although Sorceron later claimed that rather than a permanent split it was a pre-meditated hiatus. [Sorceron and Wilson, along with Thomas G. Plaguehammer] decided to resume Abigail Williams as a band, with Plaguehammer returning to bass, Zach Gibson and Bjorn Dannov rejoining, and also Kristen Randall (Winds of Plague) joining the band. After a tour in late 2007, their drummer and keyboard player left, with Ashley Ellylon rejoining on keyboards and Samus becoming the new permanent drummer."

"The release of their debut album, In the Shadow of a Thousand Sunstook inspiration from the melodic metal scene found in the Nordic countries. Because bands from these countries were immersed in the mythology of their respective countries, Abigail Williams looked into American history. Arthur Miller's The Crucible brought Abigail Williams, one of the original and foremost accusers in the Salem witch trials of 1692, to their attention."

"[T]he metalcore elements are absent, now concentrating on symphonic black metal, and has drawn comparisons to Dimmu Borgir and Cradle of Filth. The influence of European metal, particularly Scandinavian, is again evident... In 2009, keyboardist Ashley Ellylon became the new keyboardist for Cradle of Filth, replacing Rosie Smith. In October 2009, Sam "Samus" Paulicelli also left to focus on other projects."

Abigail Williams - [2006] Legend [EP] [FLAC/LOG/CUE + MP3 V0]

Abigail Williams - [2006] Legend

"Abigail Williams is an American black metal band, originally from Phoenix, Arizona, but now based in Los Angeles. Formed in 2004, the group would suffer constant changes to their line-up. Shortly after an eight-week tour in support of In the Shadow of a Thousand Suns, vocalist Ken Sorceron would become the only original member remaining.

"The band was formed in 2005 by guitarist Ken Bergeron, who later became the vocalist. Prior to forming Abigail Williams and taking on the name Sorceron, Bergeron was the guitarist of Victims In Ecstacy, followed by participation in various hardcore and metal acts in Arizona.

"The release of their debut album, In the Shadow of a Thousand Sunstook inspiration from the melodic metal scene found in the Nordic countries. "Legend [is the band's debut EP]. It was originally released as a live EP of concert songs on October 3, 2006 and was later released through Candlelight Records as a normal EP on January 23, 2007. The EP is noted for its metalcore influences, which they fully abandoned on their full-length album."
